The Rise of Allergies and Asthma

It is estimated that over half of Americans between the ages of 6 and 59 would test positive to one or more allergens. It is believed about one quarter of these people would be allergic to dust mites, ragweed or cockroaches. Surveys have shown that about ten million Americans are allergic to cats. Two million are allergic to insect stings. According to The American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology allergies are the sixth leading cause of chronic (i.e. long-term) disease.

The problem is not confined to the U.S. It is estimated that between forty and fifty per cent of children in North America, Western Europe and Australia have some form of allergy. Why is this a problem if you have asthma? The World Health Organization believes 90 per cent of asthma attacks are triggered by allergic reactions.

An allergy starts with the body?s increased sensitivity to something it perceives as a threat. The immune system overreacts to an allergen that for others is an innocent, harmless substance. We don?t know why some people become sensitized to an allergen and others do not, but it is believed that people inherit a tendency for allergies, although not to a specific substance.

Some experts believe the sensitivity is related to a child?s environment and lifestyle. They point to the increasing sales of antibacterial sprays and other cleaning agents. Today?s homes are generally cleaner. Children spend more time in the home and less time playing outside in the dirt. Consequently they are less exposed to potential allergens and denied the chance to develop immunity. This is believed to lead to allergic sensitization.

Studies have shown that children in a large family or who attend a daycare center are less likely to develop allergies. It has also been found that children who share their home with dogs and cats have less allergic reactions than those raised in a pet free household.

Pollen is a common allergy and asthma trigger. When these tiny particles enter the airways of someone sensitive to their presence proteins on the surface of the pollen and an enzyme also carried by the pollen cause an overreaction. The protein triggers the immune system and the enzyme interacts with the cells of the airways. This inflames the respiratory passages and leads to breathing difficulties.

Understanding this process may lead to new, more effective medications, but what can you do in the meantime? Firstly know the pollen count for your area. However be aware that the pollen count is usually taken the day before it is broadcast. It can be reduced by rain or cool weather, and increased by hot weather or short thunderstorms.

There are some easy preventative actions you can take for each type of allergy. If you have an allergic reaction during yard work and in damp places dispose of anything that smells moldy; if pets start a reaction regularly wash pets and their bedding; many allergies will improve if you do not smoke, especially at home and around your children.

If you find you have a food allergy vigilance is the best prescription. Today you can encounter food substances in the most unexpected places. There was a classic school experiment that involved burning a peanut and measuring how much energy it gave out. Now pupils burn another type of food. Some pupils discovered they were allergic to peanuts the hard way as the oils in the nut gave off fumes.

Now there is another food to treat with caution. Sesame seed allergy is one of the fastest growing allergies in the world. And don?t think you will only find the seed resting atop a bun. They are used in salad dressings, ethnic foods, baked goods and even soap.

So what can you do if you suspect you have an allergy or you may be asthmatic? First, become educated about the condition. Experts agree that knowledge is the best prescription.

Do some research. Consult your doctor. They may recommend tests to determine any allergies you have. If an allergy or asthma is identified there are medications, precautions and complementary therapies you can use to control your condition.

Above all do not believe that a diagnosis of allergy or asthma means you have to live a less active, enjoyable life. Our understanding of these conditions is incomplete, but we know enough to allow sufferers to take control.

Asthma As Related To Acid Reflux

Breath FREE and Enjoy and Active Life Without DRUGS CLICK HERE TO KNOW MORE

>>  INSTANTLY PREVENT YOUR ASTHMA CLICK HERE <<

Asthma is a chronic lung condition that is characterized by breathing difficulties. People who suffer from asthma have air passages that are extra sensitive or hyper-responsive. In the course of an asthma attack, the airways become irritated and react by narrowing and constricting, causing increased resistance to airflow, and obstruction of the flow of air through the air passages to and from the lungs.

There is research to indicate that the symptoms of asthma may worsen when stomach acid rises in your throat. This condition is called gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, or GERD. It is commonly referred to as acid reflux. One result of acid reflux is painful heartburn which can be relieved with the administration of antacid medicines. These are special medications which neutralize stomach acids. Acid reflux commonly affects older and overweight people. However, it can also occur in children and people of all types.

There have been studies in which researchers have injected acid into the stomachs of asthma sufferers and it had a significant impact on their asthma resulting in worsened asthma symptoms. Evidence also suggest that asthma sufferers get acid reflux with greater frequency than people who do not suffer from asthma. This is probably due to great pressure changes present in the chest of people with asthma during the course of breathing. This high pressure could cause liquid to travel up the esophagus from the stomach.

In these cases, it would seem that people who have asthma lose out twice: they suffer from asthma and they may suffer from acid reflux more often than people who do not suffer from asthma. However, there is more to this story. If acid reflux was an genuine and important cause of increase in asthma severity, then acid reflux treatments should make the asthma better, however, this is generally not the case.

In the meantime, if you suffer from both asthma and acid reflux, it could just be that careful management of your reflux will ease your breathing. If your asthma is severe and the cause is unknown, some doctors might test to see whether you have or had acid reflux by conducting tests to measure your stomach acidity. If the result showed acid reflux tendencies, then your doctor would most likely attempt to improve your lungs by treating your stomach.

The Spiraling Effect Of Your Child's Stress And Pediatric Asthma

Breath FREE and Enjoy and Active Life Without DRUGS CLICK HERE TO KNOW MORE

>>  INSTANTLY PREVENT YOUR ASTHMA CLICK HERE <<

Childhood should be joyous and free, with long days that never seem to end. That's the way most of us remember our childhoods. Unfortunately, we forget that childhood can be just as stressful for a child as adulthood is for an adult.

For a child with asthma, that stress is often multiplied many times over. Imagine never knowing when you might suddenly be unable to breathe?

Researchers have found there's a clear link between pediatric asthma and stress. But it might surprise you to know that the link may be spiral in nature, with asthma feeding the stress, then the stress worsening the asthma, which causes more stress, and on and on. In addition, when a child has asthma, additional stress is placed on the entire household. This stress is added to the burden the child is already bearing simply by having asthma.

The most important first step to reducing the impact of pediatric asthma and stress on your child is to stick to your child's asthma treatment plan. Research among families of children with asthma has shown time and again that families misunderstand the disease and have a tendency to treat it only after symptoms have appeared. This not only puts undue stress on the child and the family, it puts the child's life at risk. By sticking with the treatment plan on a daily basis, whether there are symptoms or not, you can actually prevent the symptoms from showing up. When you drift away from the treatment regiment because your child hasn't experienced any recent attacks, you allow the symptoms to return, which then contributes new stress to the situation.

No matter how well things are going, there will always be a nagging fear in the back of your asthmatic child's mind that it can only last so long. That sooner or later something will trigger another asthma attack. Unfortunately, the more your child worries about triggering an attack, the more likely the stress from that worry will actually lead to an acute episode. Which, in turn, leads to still more stress.

Caregivers can easily be caught up in the relationship between pediatric asthma and stress as well. Caring for a child with asthma can be stressful for parents and for siblings. There's the worry that his symptoms might flare up at any time. There's the fear that an acute attack might actually take your child from you. Then there's the concern about being able to afford the treatments and required medications.

According to the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, many families with asthmatic children operate in a constant crisis mode. They coast along, pretending everything is fine, until an acute asthmatic episode strikes in the middle of the night and necessitates another trip to the emergency room. Then once the episode is brought under control, things settle down again for awhile, until the next one hits.

The best way to deal with pediatric asthma and the stress it causes is to get a working asthma treatment plan, says the AAAAI. A plan should include management of the asthma and the environment, medication, and clearly defined steps to take in case of an emergency. A solid action plan gives you and your child the confidence to handle whatever situations arise, and the confidence to know you're controlling the asthma rather than the asthma controlling you.

Go to Bed with a Bug and wake up with Asthma

If I were to tell you that every night you sleep with thousands of insects right there in the bed with you, you would probably like to believe I was crazy. I'm not. Sorry. These insects are called dust mites. I know, I know, you've never seen one in your bed. You can't, as they are microscopic entities. A hundred of the little pests wouldn't fill up a speck of dust. Now before everyone takes a long sigh of relief that could cause a tornado in Texas, let's get something clear; Dust mites can be a health hazard, especially if you suffer from asthma. The problem that they cause is because of a protein they create that can trigger an asthma attack. Just one of these mites can make two hundred times its body weight in waste, waste containing this protein, so you don't need to be Einstein to do the math. Suffice to say that there's a lot of dust mite protein in every house in the entire world.

Dust mites inhabit all the rooms in your house, but they seem to have a particular liking to the bedroom. They live off dust (hence the name) and yes, our dead skin as it falls off us at night. Not a very nice thought if you had a romantic evening planned. If you have asthma, then it might very well be worth your while to follow these simple steps to controlling this particular asthma trigger.

First of all, let me say that it is nigh impossible to eliminate dust mites completely, but that's not to say you have to give in and live with them. You can buy an anti mite cover for your mattress, and avoid keeping anything under the bed. Cleaning is a priority, but not with a feather duster. All they do is move the dust from one place to another, causing a dust storm in the process. Use a damp cloth to make sure all the dirt is eliminated. Next, when was the last time you looked on top of the wardrobe? Or rather, when was the first time you looked on top of the wardrobe! This is one area no one ever seems to bother cleaning. Out of sight, out of mind, they say, and the dust mites love you for it. Wash the bedclothes at least once a week at a high temperature and try to use plastic coverings for all your clothes hanging in the wardrobe, too. If you have carpets and you don't want to get rid of them (wooden floors are perfect for the asthma sufferer), invest in a good vacuum cleaner.

These are simple things we can do to cut down on dust mites. If you have asthma, they might well be the major cause of your attacks.

Does Diet Causes Asthma?

Breath FREE and Enjoy and Active Life Without DRUGS CLICK HERE TO KNOW MORE

>>  INSTANTLY PREVENT YOUR ASTHMA CLICK HERE <<

 Asthma is a disease of the respiratory system, where the airways get obstructed due to muscle spasm and swelling within the airways which may be with or without secretions. Ayurvedic texts have it that wrong and unsuitable diet and subsequent digestive impurities are a potent cause for respiratory allergy leading to asthma. A combination of other allergic or non-allergic factors, including air pollution, vagaries of the weather, emotional stress and heredity predispositions, can also be responsible for the genesis of asthma in susceptible persons.

In recent years a number of scientific studies have come to the conclusion that certain foods and nutrients exacerbate asthmatic inflammation and bronchial hyperactivity while others reduce such pathology and promote easier breathing. Due to the advanced and effective emergency management of asthma available these days its reasons are often overlooked. But it is a fact that an asthmatic attack in the case of young patients is mostly precipitated by wrong food.

According to ayurveda, asthmatic reactions to food can vary widely as both the whole and the processed foods are known to precipitate such attack. Diet, the chemicals added to food items these days and individual susceptibility supported by seasonal discrepancies and other environmental factors are found to set off allergic reactions in the body. It is widely documented that several commonly used food items like milk, yoghurt, ice-cream and other dairy products cause coughing and wheezing in many asthmatics.

Any unsuitable food can lead to a respiratory spasm, or cause irritation or inflammation that will then overreact with environmental triggers like virus, pollens, smoke and dust. Apart from any ordinary fruit and vegetable, this may include even common foods like cereals such as wheat, rice and maize, poultry products and bakery items or eatables made of yeast.

Many modern foods consumed occasionally or as part of our daily diet have preservatives, flavors and colors which are considered as potential prompters of respiratory or other allergies.

It is seen that in some patients even an attack of hyperacidity sets into motion an episode of asthma. This factor highlights the ayurvedic dictum of maintenance of post- digestive purity also. Asthmatics are advised to choose a food that suits their digestion in perfect order. It is better to scan one?s diet and evolve a food plan carefully as many times the reactions occur hours after a particular food has been eaten.

Asthma Prevention

Doctors and researchers agree that the single most important thing that parents can do to prevent their child from developing asthma in the first place is to eliminate or significantly reduce dust mite allergens or asthma triggers in the home.

"Clinical studies have revealed that avoidance of dust mite allergens in early childhood can prevent the onset of asthma..." Michael LeNoir Md

Dust mite allergens are known to play a major role in it's development. Researchers have determined that other important allergens (after dust mites) that also need to be eliminated from the home are cats, certain types of mold, dogs, cockroaches and tobacco smoke. It is a popular misconception that children will "outgrow" asthma. It is a severe and potentially life-threatening illness that should be taken seriously. Long term use of steroid drugs is not recommended by doctors and has serious side effects. Making these preventative environmental changes is a much more viable, healthy and preferable alternative. If you or your child are already suffering from asthma or allergies these measures will certainly help.

What are Dust Mites?
Dust mites are microscopic insects and live in bedding, pillows, mattresses, blankets, upholstery, carpets etc. They thrive particularly in humid climates. They live off of dead skin cells and produce an allergen from their excrement, which is inhaled.

All Homes Contain Dust Mites No Matter How Clean They Are.
Studies have shown that dust mite allergens in the home must be reduced to at least 2mcg/g dust or mite populations decreased to 100/g dust to have any significant benefit. There are several things that can be done to accomplish this.

What Can Be Done To Eliminate or Reduce Dust Mites?
Researchers have found through numerous studies that these are the most effective measures:
Changing the relative humidity and temperature of the home:
-Keeping relative humidity less than 50% is proven to greatly reduce the dust mite population. (Portable dehumidifiers were not shown to significantly reduce humidity).
-Mechanical ventilation with a heat recovery unit has proved to be the most effective to reduce humidity in the home.
-Using air cleaners that have HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filters, which will also eliminate other allergens such as pollen and animal dander.
-Cleaning using a vacuum with a HEPA filter and steam cleaning rugs and upholstery regularly.
-Washing all bedding in hot water (60 degrees C, 130 degrees F) on a weekly basis is known to kill dust mites. Drying bedding in a hot dryer.
-Dry cleaning quilts and blankets weekly will also kill dust mites.
-Placing plastic casings specifically made for dust mite control on pillows and mattresses.
-Chemicals used on carpets and upholstery which are known to kill dust mites include benzyl benzoate, permethrin, pirimiphos methyl, phenyl salicylate, tannic acid, common household disinfectants, combinations of these, and insect growth regulators. (please note: some chemicals can also trigger asthma and allergy reactions, therefore research them carefully before using).

Asthma is an allergic inflammation of the lungs, which can be triggered by air pollutants, pollens, molds, dust, animal dander, chemicals, exercise, foods or even changes in temperature.

These triggers produce allergens, which are then absorbed into the blood stream causing the B cells or white blood cells to produce billions of molecules of the antibody IgE These IgE molecules in the bloodstream then combine with the mast cells, which line the blood vessels or basophils, a type of white blood cell.

Mast cells and basophils both contain histamine and serotonin, and the antibody IgE causes the mast cells and basophils to leak the histamine and serotonin into the blood stream. In addition to this, the production of a group of fatty acids called lucotrienes or Lt's are the cause of asthma symptoms. Lt's are formed by the combination or action of two enzymes, phospholipase A2 and lipxygenase.

When you experience an asthma attack the walls of the lungs become inflamed and the mucus membranes fill with fluid and thick, sticky mucus making it difficult to breathe. Common asthma symptoms are a scratchy throat, coughing, shortness of breath, wheezing and a tight feeling in the chest. An asthma attack can be mild, moderate or severe and lasting for a few minutes, hours, or even several days.

Knowing when to get emergency help for a severe attack can save your life. If you are experiencing the following, you should seek immediate medical attention:

-medication does not seem to be helping you
-extreme difficulty breathing, talking and walking,
-your fingernails or lips are turning blue,
-chest feels tight and your ribs are pulled inward as you breathe,
-nostrils are flaring when you breathe

(References: Adams Francis V. The Asthma Source Book 1998; American Academy of Family Physicians)

Unfortunately, many widely prescribed asthma drugs can have serious and even fatal side effects. Drug company GlaxoSmithKline's study of Salmeterol, the medication used in Advair and another Glaxo asthma product, Serevent. appeared to trigger fatal attacks in some users. Three times more patients taking the medicine died of asthma than those not taking it. Additional side effects of these drugs are: liver dysfunction and damage, increased heart rate, blood pressure, heart beat irregularities, chest pain tremor, nervousness, worsening of bronchiospasm (life-threatening), allergic reactions: skin rash, hives, swelling, bronchiospasm, and anaphylaxis (life-threatening), worsening of diabetes and lowering of potassium, potentially fatal heart complications.

For an extensive list of other asthma drugs side effects please see:
http://www.dramatic-asthma-relief.com/asthma-drug-side-effects.htm

If you are currently taking asthma medication and are experiencing side effects, you should know that there really is a safe, natural and effective drug-free alternative asthma treatment. Read what a doctor has to say about the Asthma Relief Report:

"I purchased your Asthma Relief Report last year and I've had great success with your asthma treatment. Again, blessings to you for sharing this. For a number of years, each fall, I would get severe asthma attacks on a few occasions each season. At first I would go to the hospital where they would pump me up with prednisone, then have to be on it for a week. For the last few years, I have just had prescription asthma medication and used it as necessary w/o hospital visits. I've not had to take even 10 mg of prednisone since starting this! Since I practice alternative medicine and didn't like to have to use the asthma drug, period, it was enlightening to see your article and put the information to use. Thank you!" Dr. Cathy Kush, West Chicago, Illinois.

This powerful alternative supplement, which is explained in detail in The Asthma Relief Report, acts to support the mast cells and basophils, stabilizing the cell walls, preventing them from spilling histamine and serotonin into the bloodstream.

In addition to this, it also prevents the production of a group of fatty acids called leucotrienes or Lt's which is the primary cause of asthma symptoms.

Lt's are formed by the combination or action of two enzymes, phospholipase A2 and lipxygenase. This supplement combination also acts as a powerful inhibitor of these two enzymes.

Additional Health Benefits:

These natural supplements also have healing properties that non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and antihistamines lack by repairing tissues, fibers, and membranes, they actually strengthen the entire respiratory system. In addition to relieving symptoms, the supplement decreases allergies and asthma symptoms over time by regenerating tissues.

Here is additional feedback from life-long asthma suffers who used the information in the Asthma Relief Report to get off harmful asthma drugs:

"I was diagnosed with asthma at age 14. I am 38 now and had been on ventolin, steroids, etc... for all my adult life, and advair for the last 3+ years. I ordered your Asthma Relief Report, and on Jan. 1st..., as a New Years resolution, I began slowly removing my inhalers from my daily routine. I am amazed beyond words. Today I use NO asthma medications. NONE !!! I play tennis, ride bikes, swim, run with my kids, and never have a wheeze attack or phlegm build up in my lungs. ( I always had both before your report ) Thank You so much for your help. May God bless the truths you speak." Dave McCreary MA. USA

"I was indeed delighted to find the solution to be simple and affordable. My son and I took the recommended doses according to the research in your Asthma Relief Report. My breathing became deeper in a day. It took my son a few days to respond, but he is now sleeping at night lying down and no longer coughing and wheezing at bedtime. We both thank you for your persistent research and simple yet effective solution to asthma." - T. Kowalchuk, Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Natural Asthma Treatment

It is a fact that in the world we live in more and more children are suffering from asthma. Certainly the air pollution we produce today is mainly the cause for the growing need of better asthma treatment. I have myself suffered from asthma since the age of 8 and the asthma treatment has gone up tremendously the last 10 years.

What most surprised me was the growing need for natural asthma treatment because asthma itself is the result of unnatural situations today. So where do we stand today in natural asthma treatment ? Well, more and more asthma clinical research centers are looking into the new ways of natural asthma treatment. The first aspect is to learn to breath efficiently. If this can not be achieved, the asthma can never be cured. The proper breathing techniques can be learned quite quickly and this would be the start of an effective natural asthma treatment. One of the biggest problems of the asthma treatment we all know today is that it works like antibiotics and that our body will eventually resist the treatment. Natural asthma treatment could be the solution to this as it works very differently, basically you change your way of living and become more aware of the breathing problems by only learning new breathing techniques.

It becomes more complex if the asthma is related to allergy problems and this seems to be the case quite often. The most common allergy problems related to asthma are house dust mites, pollen, and cigarette smoke. The allergy's have to be treated with the asthma as they tend to influence one another. There are a lot of herbs on the market to cure allergic reactions but the effects can be quite diversified. Some can even trigger other allergic reactions and make your asthma worse. It is important to realize that there is no miracle cure for asthma patients and the asthma treatment process will be a long one.

We all want a better world to live in so we can enjoy life to the fullest. Some people say there is no cure for asthma but personally I disagree. By changing my breathing and learning new breathing techniques I now am asthma free. I can breath normally and do sports without the slightest breathing problem. Natural asthma treatment will probably become very popular in the next few years and it has already changed my life and I hope it can do the same for others.

Asthma Treatment - Do You Need It?

>>  INSTANTLY PREVENT YOUR ASTHMA CLICK HERE <<

Every week people die of Asthma. Often we do not know how to prevent it, and what signs to look for if we are contracting asthma.

Asthma is on the increase every year, so we should be made more aware of the causes and what to do in order to prevent ourselves or children of the next generations from becoming asthmatics. As many as 15-20 million people in the USA alone have asthma, with a third of these teenagers and younger.

Most of us have heard of Asthma, but have no idea were it is from or why it is called that. The word asthma is a Greek word basically translating as the verb to pant. It can be contracted at any age, and is thought to be heredity. It is basically a lung disease, the leaves you short of breath due to the lungs inflaming, in turn causing breathing airways to narrow. Many sufferers can locate the problem and help prevent the asthmatic attacks from taking place, but sadly there is no guaranteed cure for asthma. Therefore asthma treatment may be the way forward for most sufferers.

Most common causes are thought to be dust, smoke or pollen. Even perfumes, chemicals, animal hair, and in some cases stress and nerves. Years ago many experts believed exercise help aggravate and cause asthma, although in more modern times and after more research, it is recommended on a daily basis, to help keep the body in a fit and healthy condition. If exercising with asthma, you should consult with your doctor what levels of exercise you can cope with and what you should do in order to exercise without having an attack. Often correct warm ups and warm downs should be sufficient.

Asthma is quite often frightening to either the sufferer or whoever is watching an asthmatic attack. During normal breathing, the muscles that surround the airways are relaxed, and air moves freely, where as asthmatics experience the muscles tightening around these airways, causing air not to move as freely. The slightest upset, stress, shock or anything can trigger an asthmatic attack due to asthmatics having very sensitive airways.

If you see anyone having an attack or experience one yourself you should sit leaning forward, and if possible place something warm on your chest to help relax your chest muscles. Take your inhaler or have a plastic bag to ease your breathing. If you are asthmatic you should definitely not be smoking. Reducing asthma can be helped by having ginkgo biloba, mullein, licorice root, marshmallow root or slippery elm in your weekly diet.

How To Fight Asthma

Breath FREE and Enjoy and Active Life Without DRUGS CLICK HERE TO KNOW MORE

>>  INSTANTLY PREVENT YOUR ASTHMA CLICK HERE <<

One of the most common diseases, particularly for children, is Asthma. However, it is not uncommon to adults, particularly the aged people.

Sufferings from Asthma are too much. Imagine when you require full breath, you can not get enough oxygen in your lungs resulting in trouble in breathing.

Asthma is a chronic Lung condition. People having Asthma symptoms generally have extra sensitive hyper responsive airway. When these airways become irritated by effect of some provoking factors like triggers and or inducers, the air way reacts by narrowing or obstructing the passage causing difficulty in breathing.

The experts may tell any thing, but I will blame industrialization is the main cause of Asthma. It is found that the more industrialized the area, the more its people suffer from Asthma. Rampant burning of coal, Petroleum products, and other kind of fuels emit obnoxious gases, which we inhale when we reside near by. Definitely this irritates our airways of breathing. Continuous exposure to this environment makes a man sick and vulnerable to Asthma.

Particularly children are most victims of the situation. Their tender and immature organs and systems get most of the trouble due to this polluted environment. In fact it is seen that about 7 - 10 % of Asthma Patients are pediatric.

Now if you study the causes of Asthma, we can find the way to fight it. We will summarize the Asthma Types as below:

§ Airway inflammation in which the airways in the lungs become red, swollen and narrow. Inducers like Allergens or respiratory viral infections. Bronchoconstriction in which muscles that encircles§ the airways tighten or go into spasm. Triggers like Dust, cold air, strong fumes etc cause this problem. However, this is short-lived and rapidly reversible.

Thus if the Asthma attack is due to Triggers- the best treatment is staying out of the polluted environment and to take precaution against Dust and cold air. The infection is short lived.

Use of Bronchodilators can give a short term relieve from breathing problem. Certain inhaler types of drugs are available for short-term relief from the problem. However, prolonged use of them is harmful.

Anti-inflammatory drugs are helpful for Asthma treatment. These anti-inflammatory medicines prevent and reduce inflammation, swelling and mucus. These medicines prevent symptoms such as cough, wheeze and breathlessness. These medicines are slow acting against Asthma attack. .

Both Steroidal and non steroidal medicines are available in the market for Asthma Treatment.

Among the Steroid group of drugs Beclovent , Vanceri are patented and popular drugs.

Among the non steroidal group Intal, Tilade etc drugs are popular.

Asthma is a continuing inflammatory disorder that makes airways (bronchial tubes) especially tender to irritants, and this is characterized by problems in breathing.

Asthma symptoms include:

* Coughing. Coughing in individuals with asthma is frequently worse at night or early in the morning, making it difficult for them to sleep.

* Wheezing. Wheezing is a whistling or squeaky noise when you breathe.

* A tight perception in the chest. This can feel like someone is squeezing or sitting on your chest.

* Shortness of breath. Asthma sufferers regularly say they can't capture their breath, or they feel out of breath or out of breath. They feel like you can't get sufficient air in or out of their lungs.

* Episodes of wheezy problems in breathing.

* Faster breathing or loud breathing.

* Narrowing of the air passages in the lungs and thus increased obstruction to airflow.

* fast and great changes in airway obstruction (peak flow modification greater or equal to 20%)

* regular nocturnal episodes and low morning peak flow values

* important reversibility with drugs which correspond to adrenaline, the beta2 agonists

* noteworthy reversibility with steroid drugs

* Symptom-free periods

* Frequent happening of allergy

* Inflammation of the air passages, characterised by eosinophils in the airway wall

* Bronchial hyper-responsiveness to non-specific stimuli such as chill air or histamine.

People with asthma may have:

* Wheezing when they have a cold or other disorder

* Frequent coughing, specially at night (sometimes this is the single indication of asthma in a child)

* Asthma symptoms brought on by exercises such as running, biking, or other brisk action, especially during chilly weather

* Coughing or wheezing brought on by prolonged crying or laughing

* Coughing or wheezing when they are near an allergen or irritant. Not all people have these symptoms, and symptoms may change from one asthma attack to another. Symptoms can also diverge in how rigorous they are. For instance, occasionally symptoms can be mildly annoying and at other times they can be serious enough to make you discontinue what you are doing, and sometimes symptoms can be so grave that they are life menacing and you need to get medical attention. Symptoms also differ in how frequently they occur.

Some individuals with asthma just have symptoms once every few months, others have symptoms every week, and still other people have symptoms every day. With appropriate treatment and control, still, most people with asthma can foresee to have minimum or no symptoms, and can conduct dynamic, regular lives.

At a Glance...Asthma Symptoms

* Asthma is a continuing inflaming disorder that makes airways (bronchial tubes) particularly delicate to irritants, and this is characterized by difficulty in breathing.

* The prime symptoms of asthma contain coughing, especially at night, wheezing, a tight sensation in the chest, and shortness of breath.

* The symptoms may diversify from person to person, and they may also change in severity and how frequently they happen.

* With appropriate treatment and management, most people will lead active, normal lives.

According to research at Washington University in St. Louis, a two-drug treatment may some day help with restoring healthy breathing in people ill with asthma and chronic bronchitis.

Dr Michael Holtzman and other researchers discovered that some lining cells from the lungs air passages are able to change into another cell type, which leads to the overproduction of mucus in the airways. It was observed in mice and patients suffering from those disorders.

The researchers think that further testing of the treatments would take not less than a few years, but they claim that the combination of two drugs finally is able to preclude the pernicious transformation of these cells. It would allow the airways to function properly.

Holtzman declared the discoveries are "pushing the rock a little further up the hill" when it comes to apprehension of airway diseases.

He explained that at present doctors prescribe treatments that ease difficulties with breathing, but, unfortunately, those treatments don't influence on mucus production.

Scientists examined mice with a lung condition similar to asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, a disease classification which includes chronic bronchitis.

They noticed that the airway lining kept an excess of goblet cells (mucus-producing cells) because of a cup-like shape. The number of goblet cells increased as a result of two cellular mechanisms. One mechanism let the cells live longer because of the cilia, small hairs that help remove remains out of the lungs. The other mechanism provoked those cells to change into goblet cells.

According to Holtzman, in some people an overabundance of goblet cells is noticed because of viral infections or other factors. It leads to particular breathing disorders. He said the scientists proved that the using a combination of two types of inhibitors can block the excess cells.

One slows down the activity of a epidermal growth factor receptor - a type of a protein which is too active on the airway cells with cilia in mice with the asthma-like condition. If the protein was obstructed, the inhibitor precluded the increase of those cells.

Nearly 15 million Americans are suffering from a chronicle inflammatory airway desease that makes breathing very difficult. Among the 15 million affected, a whopping 5 million are children. This chronicle airway desease is known as "Asthma" in medical terms. Asthma spares none, whether a child or an adult. When an Asthma attack strikes, person suffers from uncontrollable continuous coughing, neck muscles straining, distended chest, and eyes showing alarm verging on panic. It makes inhaling of oxygen very difficult for the person. When an Asthma attack strikes, the patient puts a tube like device in his mouth and inhales twice. The patient is instantly relieved and within a couple of minutes, his breathing returns back to normal and the patient can carry forward his normal daily activities as usual. But he doesn't know, when the next attack will strike, within a couple of hours or a couple of months.

TYPES OF ASTHMA Asthma is a chronic disease characterized by recurrent attacks of wheezing and shortness of breath. It occurs 50% more often in children under age 10, where the girls have outnumbered boys. In adult-onset asthma, it has been found that women are generally more affected than men. There are 7 broad types of Asthma, which are as follow:

* Extrinsic Asthma
* Intrinsic Asthma
* Exercise-Induced Asthma
* Intermittent Asthma
* Nocturnal Asthma
* Chronic Asthma
* Seasonal Asthma

ASTHMA SYMPTOMS

Difficulty in breathing and continuous uncontrollable coughing are the main symptoms of Asthma that results due to the airway swelling. But if we have a broader look; chest tightness, wheezing upon breathing out, coughing specially at night with thick yellow or clear sputum occasionally, high difficulty in breathing, strain in neck muscles, and shallow breathing that eases up with sitting are the main symptoms of asthma. As with an asthma attack, oxygen supply gets very low so symptoms that reflect the lack of oxygen in the body, also appears. These symptoms are blue skin, exhaustion, grunting respiration, inability to speak, and mental changes such as restlessness, helplessness, and confusion. There are some symptoms that make Asthma worse. These are the conditions Rhinitis and Sinusitis. Rhinitis is the inflammation of nose lining and Sinusitis is the inflammation of sinus cavities, which normally happens after a viral, bacterial or a fungal infection.

About Asthma:
Asthma is a condition in which the airways of the lungs become either narrowed or completely blocked, impeding normal breathing. However, in asthma, this obstruction of the lungs is reversible, either spontaneously or with medication.Nearly 5 million children younger than 18 have asthma. Increasing in prevalence, asthma is the most common chronic illness of school-aged children. It is responsible for 10.1 million school absences every year -- three times as many as any other cause. Asthma also can limit participation in school athletic programs. However, when properly managed, children with asthma can participate fully in both academic and athletic aspects of student life.Asthma is a chronic lung condition that can develop at any age. Fifteen million people--seven percent of those who live in the United States--have asthma. However, it is most common in childhood and occurs in approximately 7-10% of the pediatric population. It is the number one cause for school absenteeism among all chronic diseases.

Symptoms of Asthma:
The most common symptoms during an asthma attack are as follows: the airways become narrowed and inflamed, making breathing difficult, wheezing and troublesome coughing (particularly at night) results.It is important to check with your doctor if you are having any of these problems:
1.Breathlessness with exercise or activity
2.Breathlessness with wheezing
3.Wheezing
4.Coughing
5.Chest tightness or soreness, especially with coughing or deep breathing
6.Waking up at night with breathlessness or wheezing

Causes of Asthma:
The most common cause of asthma is allergy. Of the children who have asthma, 90 percent are allergic. Of the people over 30, 50 percent have allergies. Asthma may also be a result of infection such as bronchiolitis, which is caused by a viral infection of the airways. More than half the children who get bronchiolitis have asthma until they are at least 7 years old.
Generally, the cause of asthma can be divided into two major factors:

Triggers, which result in tightening of the airways. Inducers, which result in inflammation of the airways. Triggers irritate the airways, and do not cause inflammation. Symptoms caused by triggers tend to be immediate, short-lived, and rapidly reversible. Airways will react more quickly to triggers if inflammation is already present in the airways. Common triggers include everyday stimuli such as cold air, a polluted environment, strong fumes, emotional upsets, and smoke. Smoke acts as a very strong trigger. Second-hand smoke has been shown to aggravate asthma symptoms, especially in children.

Tropical Medications of Asthma:
Some tropical medicines for asthma treatment are follows.
Angelica Root Extract
Bronchitis & Asthma Aide
Ginkoba
Kombucha Tea

Home care Suggestion:
Avoid tobacco smoke. Apply an onion poultice to the chest.
Maintain a vegetarian diet as much as possible eat only fresh raw foods.
Also take walks as exercise helps the system to get rid of toxins.

Asthma in Adults

Breath FREE and Enjoy and Active Life Without DRUGS CLICK HERE TO KNOW MORE

>>  INSTANTLY PREVENT YOUR ASTHMA CLICK HERE <<

The following article presents the very latest information on Asthma. If you have a particular interest in Asthma, then this informative article is required reading.?

Asthma is a chronic lung disease, which is caused by an increased reaction from the airways to various stimuli. It is a persistent inflammatory condition with acute specific exacerbations. If asthma is not properly managed or treated, it can become a life-threatening disease.

A person in middle age or older can at times develop asthma and this is called adult onset asthma. A careful diagnosis of asthma is very significant, because very often the symptoms can be confused with other very similar illnesses of middle age such as specific types of heart disease chest ailments or cough.?

It's been discovered that Asthma in adults is often a recurrence of childhood asthma. Sometimes a child's asthma persists into adulthood, or very often childhood asthma disappears only to recur later in life as adult onset asthma. Therefore an appropriate diagnosis is essential.?

Asthma symptoms:

The usual asthma symptoms in adults are as follows,?

* Wheezing
* Breathlessness
* Cough
* Tightness of the chest
* Production of mucus.

Asthma triggers in adults:

Cigarette Smoking: -?
Bronchial asthma is a very common disease and is an important cause of morbidity amongst both children and adults. Tobacco smoking, which is both active and passive, can have dire effects on asthma.?

Bronchial irritation is often caused by exposure to cigarette smoking and can precipitate acute episodes of Asthma. It also increases bronchial receptiveness and causes airway sensitization to some occupational allergens.?

For any asthmatic, smoking will always increase their disease severity and is the probable cause of irreversible Airway's obstruction and also the development of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. (COPD)?

You can see that there's practical value in learning more about Asthma. Can you think of ways to apply what's been covered so far??

* Smoking is frequently associated with?
* Increased asthma symptoms,?
* Respiratory infections,?
* Acute episodes?
* And the frequent hospitalization of children.?
* It also increases bronchial responsiveness and any specific airway sensitization.?

Similarly, uteri exposure to maternal smoking is often independently responsible for early onset of asthma. Exposure in adult asthmatics to cigarette smoking by their spouses, siblings or colleagues is equally worrying.?

Similar triggers

A person with adult onset asthma is also sensitive to the same types of triggers, which precipitate symptoms in younger people suffering with asthma. Therefore it stands to reason that adult onset asthma can be managed by limiting the amount of exposure to specific particular triggers, which include: -

* Cigarette smoke
* Allergens such as pollen or mould
* Infections
* Fumes and strong odors
* Dust mite allergen
* Specific Exercise
* Medications such as beta-blockers and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs

Asthma in adults is a permanent condition. If you suffer from Asthma as an adult, you will probably need constant medication to keep your symptoms under control for the rest of your life!

Regular medication for Adult Asthma.

As people get older, their lungs become much less capable which makes the efficiency of the other organs of the body that much harder. Adult onset asthma in someone middle-aged or older can accelerate any worsening lung function they may be suffering from.

Adult onset asthma should be managed correctly because once the lung functioning has deteriorated it never recovers. It is very important preventive medication is prescribed and taken on a regular basis to protect lung function at all times.

Things to remember

a) Adult onset asthma is often a recurrence of childhood asthma,?
b) Symptoms can often be confused with other illnesses of middle age, such as heart disease or other chest conditions.
c) People with adult onset asthma usually need to take preventive medication to protect their lung function on a regular basis.

Now might be a good time to write down the main points covered above. The act of putting it down on paper will help you remember what's important about Asthma.

Breath is Life--Fight Asthma! (Posted in getmedix.com) Asthma- has become a significantly common disease that everybody must have heard of somewhere, sometime! The highest ratio rests with Australia, who has in fact, around two million Australians have asthma; that is about 10% of the population. It's so common! Yet, unless one knows some facts and have studied it or had it explained by a doctor, one wonder what asthma actually is. Have you ever been felt breathless while, gasping for breath? It's difficult for anyone to understand what an asthma attack feels like, but truly, it is too much scary! For anyone who has never had an asthma attack, it is very hard to understand what it feels like. The small air sacs and airways of the lungs become irritated. Thus, they swell and can fill with mucous. This leaves less space in the airways for air to move through and it becomes hard to get enough air into the lungs. This results in chest pain and an overwhelming desire to breathe rapidly which actually worsens the situation. Asthma is a life threatening disease and should be taken seriously. Even a mild asthma attack can be very serious. A mild asthma attack can develop into a more serious attack or it might exhaust the patient so much such that a mild attack can become fatal. In general, asthma is caused by an irritation of the airways. Some common irritants of Asthma are: § Dust § Pollen § Tobacco § Allergens § Hay fever § Viral infections § Animal hair § Temperature changes § Heavy Exercise

However there is no cure for the asthma disease, but clearly the disease is manageable. Medication is available to prevent attacks and relieve the symptoms. There is no single cause and no single answer. Attacks can be minimised by avoiding known triggers as much as possible and by leading a generally healthy lifestyle, including fresh foods and exercise.

The Simplest Asthma Solution

The Simplest Asthma Solution

During the Democratic convention the Reverend Al Sharpton quoted a shocking statistic: One third of the children in Harlem suffer from asthma. This shouldn't be completely surprising since asthma cases have been consistently increasing over the years, especially in the cities, escalating recently during the rollback of some key environmental laws, but it is a trend we must turn back.

While parents have only limited control over the environment where they raise their children, there is a personal environmental decision they can make that may dramatically reduce the symptoms their children experience. It all comes down to detergent, and not just any detergent. It is the detergent that they use to wash their children's clothes and sheets. The biggest selling detergents in the United States contain large amounts of irritating phosphates, which are not only a major irritant to the skin and respiratory system, but a source of serious pollution, and a component in global warming.

If you are wondering if your laundry detergent contains phosphates just read the label, it is listed there. In most industrialized countries phosphate detergents are outlawed for good reason, but in the United States the chemical industry has a strong lobby and cheap phosphates help manufacturers keep their costs low, so their use continues. The next time you walk though the laundry detergent section of your supermarket, take a deep breath and notice how much the smell irritates your nose and lungs.

What kinds of detergent contain low, or no phosphates? Baby detergent! No mother would dream of washing their newborn's clothes and sheets in the family's powdered detergent! That would give their baby's delicate skin rashes, not to mention an increase in crying and crankiness. There are many readily available natural detergents that are phosphate-free and it's worth the time to find them.

We have noticed tremendous improvements for both children and adults when their clothes and sheets are consistently washed in a phosphate-free detergent. By itself this change may not alleviate all of the symptoms of asthma and those related skin rashes, but it clearly removes an insidious irritant from the equation.

More alternative treatments at http://alternativecentral.info/ please visit TODAY.

It might be helpful to explain why this simple change is so effective. Testing in Europe shows that, while sleeping, people are between two thousand and ten thousand times more sensitive to chemical and electromagnetic pollution than while they are awake. When a child's pajamas are washed with a chemical irritant and they sleep on bedclothes containing those same toxins, their immune system is challenged nightly, during a time when they are most vulnerable. Their body's nutritional reserves are consumed in that battle and they are less able to defend themselves from the pollutants they encounter during their day. Asthma and allergies are not produced by a single irritant, but by an accumulation of minor irritants that eventually overwhelm the body's ability to adapt. It is not a huge leap to imagine that removing a respiratory irritant from the sleeping environment, where a person spends one third of their time, is going to produce an improvement in a child's ability to breathe.
